Becca Selby Research and Learning

I’m Becca, a researcher and community practitioner based in Wigan.

I help small, grassroots community organisations capture the real views and experiences of the people they work with, and turn that into evidence they can actually use, for funding bids, reports, or making the case to the people who need to hear it. I don’t parachute in as an outside expert. I sit with you, listen properly, and build something honest from what people say.

I offer:

• Listening and research, through interviews, conversations, and participatory methods
• Proper co-production, not tick-box consultation
• Evidence and reporting that works for your community first, funders second
• Funding bid writing, especially the methodology and evaluation sections

I’m at an early stage of my freelance journey, and I welcome conversations before a brief is fully formed. I have a PhD in qualitative research (passed viva, minor corrections in progress) and an MSc in the History of Science, Technology and Medicine, and my own experience as an autistic person, a parent carer, and a disabled person shapes my approach to inclusive research practice.

I also run the Parent Carer Research Network, connecting parent carers with researchers so their voices are properly heard in research that concerns them. It sits under my umbrella but operates independently.

I’m also keen to collaborate with other researchers and consultants on projects where my skills would complement existing work. Based in Wigan, working across the North West and beyond. Get in touch!
