That Thinking Feeling
Hi, I’m Clare! I’m a research communications consultant and I offer career and wellbeing support for researchers.
Research communications consultancy
Do you need to make your biomedical, neuroscientific or psychological research accessible and engaging for a non-expert audience? Awesome! I’ve got over a decade’s experience of doing that exact thing with my own research and for medical research charities.
I offer:
– Strategic communications planning and delivery
– Workshops to develop your research communications skills
– 1:1 clinics if you need advice or support on dealing with a specific research communications issue
Career and wellbeing support for researchers
Real talk: I burned out of academia. While it led to a new and much more enjoyable career working in research comms, it was not fun at the time and I wasn’t sure who to turn to for support.
Drawing on many years’ experience of coaching and mentoring colleagues, students and researchers in the workplace, I eventually created something that I really could have done with back then – career and wellbeing support for researchers from someone who has insider knowledge and an external perspective on academia.
I offer 1:1 coaching for researchers at any stage of their career. I won’t try to hand you a solution to whatever challenges you’re facing, but I can provide you with a calm, nonjudgemental space to talk about the things that you can’t say to your manager or your supervisor. My goal is to help you figure out what you want and how to pursue it. I particularly love supporting people who are neurodivergent, because I have ADHD myself and I know there’s nothing quite like talking to someone else who gets it.
If you want something less in-depth, I also offer group workshops designed to help you deal with the horrors that academia can throw at you, on topics including:
– Coping with common stressors
– Figuring out how (and when) to say no
– Identifying and prioritising the things that support your wellbeing
